Project: Kitchen, Utility, Pantry & Bar
Range: 1909 Ovolo, Second Nature Belsay Smooth
Location: SE6 - Catford
Year: 2026
Project Overview:
Anita and Kostas invited us to take the lead on their kitchen, pantry, utility and bar, creating four beautiful spaces that feel considered and cohesive, while staying true to the home’s traditional style. With plenty of natural light flowing through, we felt confident introducing bold, dark cabinetry in the kitchen, resulting in a rich, sophisticated space.
Design Choices:
We selected our 1909 in-frame Ovolo range in a rich Carbon finish, paired with a Quartz Calacatta Silver worktop for a crisp, timeless contrast. An antique mirror splashback reflects light and visually opens up the space, creating a more sociable feel. Satin brass handles were chosen to echo the brass detailing on the range cooker and Quooker tap, tying everything together.
The adjoining bar area ties in seamlessly with the kitchen, using the same traditional styling and finishes for a cohesive, timeless look. In the pantry & utility, we kept continuity with the same worktop but softened the scheme with our Belsay range in Cashmere. Stainless steel handles add a clean, contemporary contrast to the warmer brass tones, while the lighter cabinetry keeps the space feeling brighter and more welcoming.
It’s these little decisions, plus details like the custom towel rail on the island end, that turned it from a standard drawing on paper into a home that fits the way the family lives.
Challenges Encountered:
One of the trickiest design moments in this kitchen was the original windows along the sink wall. Keeping them in their existing positions was a key part of the project, and it meant we had limited depth for traditional wall units or slim shelving. Instead of trying to squeeze something in, we embraced the layout and designed bespoke bi-fold dressers that make the most of every inch, adding practical storage while creating a balanced, symmetrical look.
